West Virginia Senate Approves Firearm Tax Holiday; Governor Considers Veto
March 23rd, 2010A bill which exempts the purchase of firearms from West Virginia’s 6% sales tax during the first weekend of each October has been approved by the Senate. Governor Joe Manchin expressed concerns about the state’s revenues. He agreed to give the bill a full review, but would not rule out the possibility of a veto.

Bill To End Tax On Food
February 24th, 2009On 19 February 2009 HB2681 was introduced in West Virginia’s House of Delegates. The bill proposes to abolish any tax imposed on sales of food and food ingredients intended for human consumption beginning 1 July in 2009. Prepared food will still be subject to standard sales tax.
